Pattern Bowl
Bowling lane patterns how do I figure out how to pattern bowling lanes?
The arrows on the bowling lane are a guideline to help adjust the placement of the ball when you throw it. The traditional approach for a right handed bowler is to try to place the ball between the second and third mark from the center so the ball will hit the strike pocket. But most bowlers throw with a hook of some kinds. So try for that mark and see where YOUR ball ends up. Then you use the marks to adjust left or right to make the correction to get your ball where you want it to go.
A cautionary note, make tiny adjustments. Also, go opposite the way you think it should go. If your ball is too far to the right, move a little to the right. You will be surprised what your ball does.
Hope this helps,
